Blackjack Farms
has been in the Gorrie family since 1942. The equine operation
expanded in 1995 with the opening of a new full service boarding
facility. Two outdoor rings and a covered arena provide riders
with plenty of options for year round riding.
When the Gorrie grandchildren became of riding age, they expressed
an interest in hunter-jumper competition, thus inspiring the expansion
of the barn to 29 stalls and the employ of two full time trainers.
Hunter-jumper lessons are offered to beginners as well as advanced
riders. J Michael Halbleib was hired as head trainer in 2000, and
Ellen Bethea joined the program in 2003 as the assistant trainer.
The farm now offers a variety of lesson and show services to its
hunter-jumper customers as well as 750 acres and 10 miles of trails
for its pleasure riders.
